Once again, dear Mohammed, I am weeping at your beautiful, deeply human words. I send you condolences for the death of your friend Hasan, another in the train of endless sorrows - and unspeakable outrages. Last night I got to meet our extraordinary friend Jen in person and see the film DSP has produced, along with you as co-producer, about another, younger Mohamed and the cruelties his young life has endured. There you are - not just writing brilliantly, not just sustaining your wife and kids through everything, but also supporting other projects to bring the hideous realities of the genocide to a world that doesn't want to see. Your insight that ceasefire doesn't mean peace, only a (possibly brief) cessation of bombing and war, stays with me. But so does hope, because someone like you exists and speaks out in this terrifying world. Please stay well, keep hoping for Rafik and Zain and all of us.
It's difficult to read your words and yet so necessary for those of us that have the privilege of not experiencing genocide. SHAME on the U.S. for supporting and funding genocide. The world has seen its barbarity and history will not be kind to American history. I, for one, will not stop fighting for the liberation of the Palestinians. Their struggle is connected to all struggles for liberation.
❤️ my heart goes out to you and the Palestinian people. What you have had to endure is inexcusable. My neighbor and her family are from Palestine. They have suffered great loss. In previous years they would travel to visit family and friends there. This year they could not. It is beyond sad. But so many people world-wide support the Palestinian people. What Zionist Israel has done is more than just “wrong”. It is Crimes against humanity
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend Hasan. He deserved to live. You ALL deserve to live. Thank you for writing and sharing, your words are so deeply important
this is so beautiful and horrifying. growing up reading history books, i was sure that should humanity face these times again, the lessons from the past would step in. how naive that was. existence owes your people everything. thank you for sharing, your love is palpable
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. For all the loss you and your people have suffered, relentlessly. Thank you for writing about him, his bad jokes and terrible cooking--these make him so real, and reveal your loss, so sharply felt. Every time I read your posts I weep. Please keep writing. I don't want to close my eyes to your suffering.
Thank you for this tender and beautifully written account of all that’s important and what it means to love deeply, to survive unspeakable loss, to live in exile and to still be able to write the words that reach across impossible divides -creating so much love and goodness in its wake.
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend Hasan. I really hope you can go with your wife and children back to Gaza some day when it is safe for you all.
This was achingly beautiful. I thought of my own good friend who looks just like your friend Hassan. I'm sorry for your losses. Nobody but those who have lived your pain will understand your devastation and heartbreak. My condolences are but meek and paltry gestures, but as you said, even in the darkest hour, there is faith.
The world may be against you, but Allah swt is the All Powerful. And though there is no return to normal and no replacement for what and who you've lost, it is in God we believe and trust to bring back Gaza and Palestine. Your sons may never know home, but your lineage will. They will return home. The future sons and daughters of Gaza and Palestine. No matter how many generations later.

I'm so sorry. Our government does not care what we think. They don't represent us at all. ✌️

Every nato country let you down. We let you down.
Out lying corrupt media & politicians let you down.
We let you down & we are still letting you down
Our corrupt police are arresting & beating protestors.
We are forced to live in a world where protesting genocide can cost you your job, your education, your liberty & even your life.
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend Hasan. He deserved to live. You ALL deserve to live. Thank you for writing and sharing, your words are so deeply important
I wish everyone could read this.

We'll never forget, and we'll continue to listen. ♥️
I am listening. How could I not.
Love to you and your family.

I'm so sorry your friend was murdered.
16,000 kms away in Aotearoa, New Zealand we see you, we hear you, we grieve with you, we stand with you Mohammed.
There is a groundswell of support for Palestine amongst our peoples but our present Government is neither brave nor principled.
Many are doing their very best to change this.
Kia kaha
