Thanks for the retelling since our media has buried these stories beneath the permitted hasbara while screaming antisemitism to appropriate and annihilate voices, images, martyrs and memory within the rubble.
Incredible piece of writing .. so much appreciation for you reliving it to retell the story .. sending vibes of solidarity for your family and your people .. so difficult as the devastation continues ..
I am so sorry that you had to live this. This world is so unfair. I am so glad that you and your immediate family are here and that you can share this story. Reading about that moment with your son ripped my heart open. <3
I am so sorry that you have suffered like this, and if there were anything I could do so that nobody would suffer such trauma again, I would, but I don't know what to do, only pray, witness, and write in solidarity with Palestinians. I wish that I had some kind of healing balm to pour on you to restore your emotional health and traumatized psyche. Writing is a powerful way to work through life altering and destructive events. We can suffer a winter of despair, but spring always comes again, lifting our spirits. That's the best I have to offer. If we look to nature where we can, that can help, even if it's to gaze at clouds in the sky, sunlight and moonlight, waves lapping on the shore. Your writing is powerful, raw, strong, a call for meaning in the midst of violence and loss. You have reached me, and I feel love blazing in my heart for you and your family. I have survived cancer that is nearly always fatal, so there is something more that I can share that kept me alive, and that is breathing. Breathe with the pain, breathe through the pain. Breathe consciously, keep breathing.
